Still up in the air

This will likely be my last flight this season. In this area of the northwest, the season for balloon flights will be over in another month. The weather after that is too “challenging” for a safe ride. It was a beautiful day to fly. Calm, cool, mostly clear. We were able to drift a bit here and there, didn’t get a lot of miles away from our start location, but a great ride in all. We got to see the river up close, something not always available. It is so nice to just float along peacefully watching the countryside drift by as we make our way along. For those not familiar with ballooning, the pilot can rotate the basket/balloon around, and go up and down, but direction and speed depend on the prevailing air currents. So they travel up and down to catch a bit a direction “sideways” – – – from point A to point B. Then before you run out of fuel for the burners, yes, you do have to land and gather everything up and go for breakfast. Makes for a great morning, a great start for the day! Try it some time. You’ll like it!
